Are You In Need Of Bird Control? Here Are Methods You Could Consider

Blog

If you live in an area that is home to bird species, you may find that your premises is gradually becoming invaded with these creatures. This is especially true when it comes pigeons, who will try to forage right on your property. Ignoring these bird infestations does not only mean having to contend with their fecal matter all over your yard, but it can also pose a health risk for you and your family members. This is why it is prudent to stop a bird infestation right in its tracks before it becomes out of control. If you are in need of bird control, the following are some of the methods that you could consider.

Wire systems

Wire systems function to deter the nesting of birds on your property. They are also referred to as trip wire systems or pin and wire systems. The wire system is made up of several parallel wires that have been secured in place sing narrow strings. The spacing in between the wires is minimal to ensure that the birds do not get a chance to find a foothold on your property. You can also opt to install the wires at varying heights so that they can disrupt the roosting of the birds by interfering with their wings too.

One of the main benefits of wire systems is that they pose little risk of damage to your building. The pins used to secure the wires are quite small and can easily be drilled into the mortar joints of your structure.  A second advantage of the wire system is that they can be installed anywhere on your property ranging from ledges, roofing and more.

Plastic netting systems

This type of bird control method evolved from the traditional agricultural use of the chicken wire. In years past, chicken wire was used to ensure chickens do not stray away from their pens. Over the years, manufacturers have now created a plastic version of this netting system to prevent birds from roosting in commercial and residential buildings. The plastic netting system works by a method of exclusion. This means that it is installed in recessed areas where birds may find comfortable to build their nests such as eaves, light wells and more.

However, a misconception some people have is that plastic netting systems would be conspicuous and decrease the curb appeal of their buildings. The truth is you can get this plastic netting in a wide assortment of colours. Giving you the chance to match the plastic netting to the overall colour scheme of your building. You can even opt for transparent alternatives that would be hard to spot from a distance.

Getting rid of mosquitos

In the warm weather, it can be hard to keep control of the mosquitos in our yard. We have a really beautiful water feature and fishpond, but the water does not tend to move quickly enough to keep the mosquitos out. Every year we get the pest control guy to help us out by spraying the yard so that there is no spot for the mosquitos to build up. This means that we can get outside and enjoy the weather in our own yard. This blog is all about pest control for your yard, especially if you have water features.
